Ephedra

Ephedra

Ephedra also known as Ma Huang is a traditional Chinese medicine. It is often found in dietary supplements. It has gained much attention for its effects such as increased metabolism and fat burning qualities. Due to these effects Ephedra has become a weight loss supplement and sports drug. The FDA believes Ephedra is linked to over 800 injuries including 50 deaths. Possible adverse effects include increased blood pressure with symptoms of dizziness, headaches, and irregular heartbeat. This can lead to heart attack, stroke, seizures, and death. In January 2004 the FDA banned Ephedra and urged consumers to stop using Ephedra containing products. Manufacturers were urged to recall products still on the shelves. If you or a loved one may have been harmed by the use of Ephedra you may want to contact a New York personal Injury attorney for more information on Ephedra.
